Believe it or not, if you purchase gifts for friends and family on a regular basis, when the urge appears and not with the holiday hype says, you will save money, time and aggrevation - your blood pressure stress level will probably stabilize and anxiety will virtually disappear.
View those "official" holidays as opportunities for quality family time complete with potluck feasts and visitations of friends and relatives. Play card and board games, watch TV, listen to the radio. Dance and sing. Do some crafts. Make a child's family tree with everyone's input.
If gifts are expected, try to get all family members to place a limit on prices and amounts or purchase only for young children.
